|
Letter from the Administrator Hello everyone and welcome to the August edition of the ViewPoint. July has been a fabulous month for outside activities and it was highlighted by our band concert with Steve Caddick and Avalon. We had a perfect evening and the residents and families really enjoyed the music and the ice cream sundaes. I have to mention the great response we have had to our exercise programs on each floor. The residents are enjoying the sessions and the staff is excited at the level of participation. Keep up the good work. We have identified four major areas that we will be focusing on in the next 12 months for our quality improvement program. Resident and Family Satisfaction will work on the comments and results of the last survey, Staff Satisfaction in the same fashion as the Resident and Family Survey. The new dining program on each residential neighborhood, which will bring steam tables to each floor and eliminate our food trucks. The last area is securtiy of possessions. We will work on personal clothing returns and the use of the locked drawers each resident has available to them. Our August schedule looks busy and filled with many fun events. We will be having the Hummingbird Trio entertaining on the 18th. They performed last year and were a huge success. This month is our cookout so bring your lawn chairs and your appetite. I want to congratulate our July Whatever it Takes winner Jennifer Hall. Jennifer has recently been promoted in our housekeeping department and has done an exceptional job blending her talents in her job with great customer service towards our residents. She is a real asset to West View. We have been notified that the 2010 Resident and Family Satisfaction survey is coming in September so I wanted to give you advance notice to be looking for the survey and to please complete and return promptly. We will talk more about that next month. Please enjoy this newsletter and I hope to see you around our home. Best wishes to each of you. Hugh J. Hall | ||

RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT Lena Palazzo On May 9th, 1925 a bouncing baby girl came into this world. Her parents Frank and Glorinda Lautieri named her Adeline Dorothy. She eventually went to work for Davison Brother's and went on to take a job as a dietary aid at the State Hospital in Cranston. One of Lena's brothers friends asked her out on date, his name was Paul Palazzo. They were eventually married on September 10, 1949 at Sacred Heart Church in West Warwick, and honeymooned in Canada and New Hampshire. Lena and Paul were never blessed with children; but had many, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Both Lena and Paul enjoyed traveling. Lena never enjoyed flying so their travels were always by car. Today Lena enjoys doing word search puzzles, playing bingo, and loves to do housework! Spending time with her family is especially precious to Lena.
